Paris hostage situation ends with scores dead

Officials say scores of people were killed inside Paris' Bataclan concert hall after gunmen held hostages inside, part of what President Francois Hollande described as an unprecedented terrorist attack across the city. Jillian Kitchener reports.

Anti-terrorist commandos rush to a popular concert hall in Paris with weapons drawn... an attempt to free hostages held at gun point inside. But officials say scores of people were killed here, adding to the casualties across the city in what the French president is calling an unprecedented terrorist attack. Francois Hollande said the gunmen who stormed the concert hall were killed. He also vowed that France would be ruthless in punishing those who carried out attacks across the city. Gunmen and bombers attacked busy restaurants and bars in Paris... and several explosions took place outside the national stadium. World leaders responded with shock and pledges of solidarity for France... although there was little action any could immediately take.
