Germany calls off soccer game over bombing fears

Bomb scare outside a stadium in Hanover leads to the cancellation of a Germany vs Netherlands soccer game. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

A soccer game between Germany and Netherlands is called off Tuesday over fears of a bombing. German Chancellor Angel Merkel was scheduled to attend the match in Hanover. Germany's Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere says authorities had their reasons to shut down the game. (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN INTERIOR MINISTER, THOMAS DE MAIZIERE, SAYING: "We had good reasons, bitter reasons, to decide the way we did. But it does not help to lay out all the details just to satisfy your curiosity." Security had been tight for the game, after the stadium where Germany was playing France was targeted last week in Paris. The Hanover game was supposed to be a gesture of solidarity with France
