Watch out Hulu, Netflix and Amazon - YouTube is beefing up streaming. According to the Wall Street Journal, the world's largest online-video service by viewership is seeking streaming rights for its new paid subscription service called YouTube Red. Executives of YouTube - which is a unit of Alphabet - reportedly met with Hollywood studios and production companies to consider pitches and negotiate licenses for new content. The $9.99 a month service launched in October offers ad-free videos and music streaming. The company is still deciding how much content to license. It wants a big collection of original and licensed programming. The Journal says YouTube is tapping Google Play's existing relationships with movie studios and owners of premium video content to negotiate streaming deals.
