ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Europe's oldest glassblowing studio, London Glassblowing, is trying to reignite the public's interest in the artform with bauble making classes in the run up to Christmas. The studio, which turns 40 next year, is run by Peter Layton, who hopes the Christmas decoration-making workshops will encourage people to purchase a piece of glass and keep it in their families for generations to come. London Glassblowing says it offers fast-paced classes to interested students, cramming half-a-decade of knowledge into one day so they can craft the perfect bauble. Having produced pieces for the Royal Academy of Arts and The National Gallery, Layton is hoping that glass will be considered as much of an artistic investment as painted items, that will hold a place firmly in Christmas past and future.
