A group of lucky Star Wars fans from around the world arrived in France to be among the first to see the long-awaited "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on the first day of its global release. The fans, mostly from the United States, took advantage of a promotion by AirFrance and Europacorp cinemas to see the film two days before its official release in the U.S. on December 18. Many of them grew up with the films, and say the newest installment gives them a chance to relive cherished memories. SOUNDBITE: Elliott Smith, fan, saying (English): "I wanted to be a Jedi growing up. I was like, 'Oh, man, if I practice really hard and train maybe I can move things with my mind.' That sounds really nerdy, but that was probably my favorite memory." SOUNDBITE: Alexandre Costa, fan, saying (English): "My father first showed the movies, the original trilogy to me when I was a little kid. So ever since it was like magic, I was charmed by it and I had to see everything, all the movies." The film was also released in Italy, the Philippines and Germany, where fans wore Stormtrooper and Darth Vader masks at Berlin's Zoo Palast theater where a seven-metre-high replica of an imperial TIE Fighter was built. SOUNDBITE: Jan, fan, saying (German): "I am hugely looking forward to it. I'm a little skeptical because of the new director, but I have a lot of hope." SOUNDBITE: Felix, fan, saying (German): "It is really special, to finally have a Star Wars premiere again and I had to be here as a fan." The film sees original cast members Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher return and reprise their roles as Han Solo and Princess Leia. Two sequels to the new film are scheduled for May 2017 and 2019.
