ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: President Barack Obama on Friday said there were signs of steady progress in the U.S.-led campaign against Islamic State militants and that they would eventually be defeated. "We're going to defeat ISIS," Obama said at a news conference, using an acronym for the Islamist group. He said in order for IS be defeated there has to be more stability in the region. "It is my firm belief, and the belief of the experts in this Administration, that so long as (President Bashar al-) Assad is there, we cannot achieve that kind of stability inside of Syria," he said.
