ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama wished Americans a merry Christmas on Friday (December 25) during the president's weekly address which was released one day early to mark the holiday "Today, like millions of Americans and Christians around the world, our family celebrates the birth of Jesus and the values He lived in his own life," President Obama said, adding that those values included "treating one another with love and compassion. Caring for those on society's margins: the sick and the hungry, the poor and the persecuted, the stranger in need of shelter - or simply an act of kindness." He said those values are what binds "Americans of all faiths." Mrs. Obama also called on the public to take a moment between "singing carols" and "opening presents" to pay tribute to the troops. "Go to JoiningForces.gov to see how you can serve the troops, veterans, and military families in your community," she said.
