ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump brought his brand of economic populism to South Carolina on Wednesday (December 30), one day after campaigning in the early voting state of Iowa where most polls show him trailing behind Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Trump, who still continues to hold the advantage as the Republican frontrunner in national polls, addressed an enthusiastic crowd in Hilton Head, returning to the themes that helped fuel his surge toward becoming the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination. Trump ridiculed the achievements of Democratic President Barack Obama, telling the crowd that the Obama administration's announcement that it had helped broker an agreement for Syria's warring factions to begin talks next month is "stupid." "I'm very highly educated, I know words, I have the best words, but there's no better word than 'stupid,'" he told a packed auditorium. But Trump trained his wrath more on the presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton rather than Cruz or any of his Republican rivals, saying that he was forced to respond to her accusations that he is "sexist." "Nobody respects women more than Donald Trump," he told a cheering crowd. "When she said that [I am sexist]...I had no choice and I did have to mention her husband's situation, OK, and that is now the biggest story on television by a factor of 10." Trump has vowed to start using his personal fortune to bolster his candidacy in states such as Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, saying he'll spend a minimum of $2 million per week, according to a video that aired on CNN.
