CES gadgets to go and to play

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas featured products that go places and a bevy of new gadgets for fun and relaxation. Bobbi Rebell reports.

Come fly with me, as in drones. At the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, the highlights included the first drones that carry passengers. Derrick Xiong heads drone maker eHang: SOUNDBITE: DERRICK XIONG, CO-FOUNDER, EHANG, (ENGLISH) SAYING: "The cruising speed, the standard speed is going to be 63 miles per hour and the cruising time will be 23 minutes. So we are talking about 20 plus miles at this time." Cars were also self driving. Ford showed off vehicles with new sensor technology that allows cars to tackle various terrain and a wider variety of driving situations. And look out Tesla. There's deep pocketed competition coming into the electric car market: California-based Faraday's Futures' concept car boasts 1000 horsepower. Also on the go: Robots. Startup company Savioke drew a big crowd for "Relay." Spokesperson Adrian Canoso SOUNDBITE: ADRIAN CANOSO, OF SAVIOKE, ON HIS ROBOT, (ENGLISH) SAYING: "I load the item in to "Relay" and I punch in your location and it will autonomously navigate your hallways and around people. He will even get used to your elevators in your building." Facebook's virtual reality company Oculus started taking pre-orders for it's Rift headset, which comes bundled with games. The price: $599. Studio head Jason Rubin: SOUNDBITE: JASON RUBIN, HEAD OF STUDIOS AT OCULUS, (ENGLISH) SAYING: "We are at that point now where screen technologies, processor technologies, everything that is going on can actually trick your eyes. Virtual reality will continue to grow, your hands, where you are in space, we will have to get your inner ears. ' And when it comes time to relax, these new products make life easier at home, ranging from refrigerators with cameras, so you can remotely check what's in the fridge, to systems to make your own custom tea, and even brew your own beer.
