ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) The White House on Monday (January 11) recalled David Bowie as an artist who made a great impact on the music and the arts in the United States and around the world. "There is no denying the impact of his contribution to art and music and film, not just here in the United States but around the world," White House spokesman John Earnest told reporters at a news briefing. The visionary British rock star who framed hits such as "Space Oddity" with flamboyant pop personas like "Ziggy Stardust" and androgynous displays of sexuality, died at age 69 after a secret battle with cancer.
