EDITORS PLEASE NOTE: RESENDING VIDEO TO CORRECT A LOWER-THIRD GRAPHIC ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Sports cars, often short on practicality but long on style were on full display on Tuesday (January 12) at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Automakers from around the globe wowed experts with their powerful engines and high-tech performance capabilities. VLF Automotive unveiled it's prototype 740-horsepower Force 1 V10 sport coupe which is said to be capable of driving 218 miles per hour (350 kilometers per hour). The automaker plans on manufacturing only 100 vehicles this year, with production slated to begin in April with anticipated deliveries in June. Also on display was American sports car perennial, the Chevrolet Corvette, as well as Ford's hot new GT sports car, which features a 600-horsepower engine with gull-wing door entry. It is built in Canada and will be available in late 2016. BMW displayed it's fun i8 concept plug-in electric hybrid vehicle which the car maker says will reach speeds of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers per hour).
