People hoping to pick up a glock from a friend on Facebook will have to make other plans. The social media company announced Friday they are banning users from coordinating person-to-person sales of firearms on Facebook and Instagram. Facebook Inc had come under fire for its use to circumvent background checks on gun purchases. The move comes as the United States debates the issue of access to guns after a string of mass shootings. U.S. President Barack Obama has urged social media companies to clamp down on gun sales organized on their platforms. Licensed retailers will still be able to advertise firearms on the site for transactions outside of Facebook's service, a spokeswoman for the company said.
