ROUGH CUT (no reporter narration) House Speaker Paul Ryan said the congress would attempt to override a presidential veto in an effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act, also known as "Obamacare." "Last month, for the first time, we put a bill on the president's desk to repeal Obamacare and to de-fund Planned Parenthood. Later today, we will have a vote to override the president's veto of this bill. We are taking this all the way to the end of the process under our Constitution. Regardless of the outcome today, this fight will not end here. We have now forged a path that is a clear path to repealing Obamacare without sixty votes in the Senate. So what we are proving today that if we have a Republican president next year, we will repeal Obamacare and we will replace Obamacare," Ryan said. The House Speaker said healthcare legislation is at the center of the 2016 presidential election. "These are not going to be things that we will be able to accomplish with this president still in the White House. It is an agenda for what we will do next year with a Republican president to get our country back on track. This is what two thousand and sixteen is all about," Ryan said. === Speaker Ryan targets healthcare House Speaker Paul Ryan outlines plan to target the Affordable Care Act and make it an election year issue.
