ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said there were people "who tried to distort information" in regards to an email from Cruz's campaign that implied Carson was about to drop out of the race. The self described "man of faith" said the American people should judge someone not on what they say, but what they do. "It's clear that there were people who tried to take advantage of a situation, who tried to distort information, there's no question about that. Senator Cruz told me that he was not aware of that when I talked to him and that he did not agree with that kind of thing. And we'll wait and see what he does to demonstrate," said Carson while speaking at Washington, D.C.'s National Press Club. Donald Trump has called for the nullification of Cruz's Iowa victory or a new vote in the state, which holds the first nominating contest in the presidential election. "Ted Cruz didn't win Iowa, he stole it," Trump said in a series of tweets. "That is why all of the polls were so wrong and why he got far more votes than anticipated. Bad!" Trump referred to an email that Cruz's campaign sent on Monday that implied Carson was about to drop out of the race and that his Iowa backers should be urged to vote for the Texan instead. Cruz later apologized for the email. Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says there were people "who tried to distort information" on Cruz's campaign, and even though Cruz has apologized he should be judged on his future actions.
