ROUGH CUT (no reporter narration) STORY: An endorsement born of grief as Geneva Reed-Veal, mother of Sandra Bland, commends Hillary Clintons' "selfless support," and backs Clinton to become president at a rally in Chicago. She spoke of Clinton, "sitting down with a room full of mourning mothers, who have violently lost their children" noting, "I am one of those mothers." "As Sandra Bland's mother, I know a little but about frustration, you have to stand and push through it," she said. Sandra Bland was pulled over in her car on July 10 by a state trooper in Texas for failing to signal a lane change in Prairie View, about 50 miles northwest of Houston. The stop escalated into a verbal altercation after the trooper asked Bland to put out a cigarette and she refused. Bland was arrested and charged with assaulting an officer, a felony. The discovery of Bland's body in her cell three days later with a trash bag around her neck raised suspicions of police misconduct. Local officials have said she was not mistreated in jail. In December, a Texas grand jury decided not to issue indictments over Bland's death.
