She's an inspiration to entrepreneurs but especially women. With no training or experience, Kenya born Dorothy Ghettuba started her own television production company. Her aim, to increase the number of locally made TV programmes. And create stronger roles for African women. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SPIELWORKS CEO, DOROTHY GHETTUBA SAYING: "I tell people that I have never been to a film school I don't even know how a film department looks like. It is something that I taught myself. I read everything that I could read, I researched on everything I could and I just learned on the job. It was just something that I wanted to do and so I figured hey you know what let me go and learn as much I can about it and get as much experience I can about it." Dorothy's says she's always had a passion for acting. Auditioning for several roles whilst living in Canada but never being cast. Now she's living her dream - running Spielworks Media in Kenya. It's one of only a handful of TV production companies in the country. The small screen mainly dominated by Nigerian and Latin American soaps. Kenya wants to up its offering by at least 40 percent. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SPIELWORKS CEO, DOROTHY GHETTUBA SAYING: "I have been told your women characters are all very strong. I am like, 'yes, and so what? We have got to put out women who are strong on TV. And I don't care the role they are acting. You could be a CEO, you could be a madam who runs a brothel, you could be a lady who owns a bar, you could be a house wife, I don't care. You are going to be a strong woman." Kenya hopes it can build its own strong television industry. And create hundreds of much needed jobs for both men and women.
