ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Cruz: Brokered convention would be "absolute disaster" Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz dismissed talk of a brokered convention saying it would be an "absolute disaster." "There are an awful lot of folks in Washington who have these fevered dreams, of a brokered convention, these fevered dreams of the convention deadlocking and their being able to parachute in their favorite establishment candidate," Cruz said. "That would be an absolute disaster, the people would quite rightly revolt," Cruz said. The Republican candidate will need to win 1,237 delegates to become the nominee. On Tuesday, voters in Florida, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina and Missouri will vote in Republican, as well as Democratic, primaries.
