ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: While campaigning in Wisconsin on Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Governor John Kasich said he would try to get Russia involved in the fight against radical Islamists if he elected president. He also referred to former president George W. Bush's comment that he looked into the eyes of Russian leader Vladimir Putin and saw Putin's soul. Kasich said, if Putin looks into Kasich's eyes, Putin will see a freedom fighter. Kasich, the governor of Ohio and a former congressman, has positioned himself as a conservative Republican who is nonetheless willing to listen to all sides in order to solve problems. He is challenging outsiders Donald Trump, the Republican front-runner, and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, who is known for antagonizing his party, as an alternative who can win the party's support in the July convention ahead of the Nov. 8 election. Wisconsin will hold its presidential nominating contests on April 5th. Kasich spoke just hours after Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, himself a former Republican presidential candidate, endorsed Cruz for the party's nomination.
