Former U.S. President Bill Clinton faced off against a group of Black Lives Matter protesters during a stump speech for his wife, Hillary, in Philadelphia on Thursday. The group was protesting a 1994 crime bill he approved while president that they say led to a surge in the imprisonment of black people. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FORMER U.S. PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON SAYING: "You are defending the people who kill the lives you say matter." His remarks at the rally drew criticism from members of the black community, whose support the Clinton campaign depends on in the race for the White House. Hillary Clinton herself has faced criticism over the bill, which she defended as First Lady. Back in the 1990's, Hillary Clinton went on record referring to gang members as "super predators." She has said she regrets using the term, but Black Lives Matter protesters continue to confront her over it.
