JetBlue plans to make more of a mint off its Mint service. The Wall Street Journal reports that the low cost carrier will expand its luxury version of first class on coast-to-coast routes next year. JetBlue will add its premium service on flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale and connect other major West Coast cities with the East Coast. Free meals, larger TV screens and more entertainment are among the amenities Mint offers. The Journal says, the announcement will come soon, just days after JetBlue withdrew from a bidding war with Alaska Air over Virgin America. But the airline told the daily it was already working on expanding Mint before its attempt to buy Virgin. Alaska and Virgin lack the lie-flat seats offered by JetBlue and the big airlines. Mint seats sell at a considerable discount to first class fares offered by the larger carriers.
