Low polling numbers aside, Ohio Governor John Kasich HAD vowed to stay in the race all the way through California, which holds its primary in June. But when second place Ted Cruz quit the race after losing badly to front-runner Donald Trump in Indiana, some of the writing was already on the wall. Kasich was polling at 16 percent nationally - miles behind Donald Trump's 53 percent and well below Cruz. Heading into Tuesday, he had almost no chance of securing enough delegates to win the nomination outright, but argued he COULD win a CONTESTED battle on the floor of the party convention in July. But with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus affirming Trump as the presumptive party nominee, Kasich has reportedly decided his run for president is over.
