U.S. President Barack Obama will become the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima in Japan later this month. But the White House says he will not apologize for the dropping of an atomic bomb on the city in World War Two. The bomb dropped in 1945 killed thousands of people instantly and about 140,000 more by the end of that year. Obama will visit the site with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on May 27. The visit will take place as part of his swing through Asia which will include a Group of Seven summit in Japan and a visit to Vietnam. Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize early in his presidency in part for his commitment to nuclear non proliferation.
