The makeshift camp for migrants and refugees at Idomeni, is now empty. But the evidence of their desperate journey to a better life is everywhere. Until today, thousands of migrants called this camp home. For months they had been living in this sprawling expanse of tents on Greece's northern border with Macedonia. But police and bulldozers began clearing it this week... with many migrants heading to the fields, others to wherever they could find shelter. A Syrian refugee named Diar says police asked his family to leave. But instead of heading for a government center along with others, he says they want to move on...any way they can. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SYRIAN REFUGEE, DIAR, AGED 18, SAYING: "Actually I am looking for a smuggler, yeah like everyone here is trying to get a smuggler and move from here..." Greek officials have not released figures on how many people may have left on their own accord. But Greece's Public Order minister, Nikos Toskas, says the refugees all left without violence. (SOUNDBITE) (English) PUBLIC ORDER MINISTER, NIKOS TOSKAS, SAYING: "The whole operation has been terminated..." But the government says there are still more than 54,000 migrants, scattered throughout Greece. They're hoping to one day reach western Europe like a million others before them.
