Taxi drivers block streets in the Argentine capital in the latest protest against Uber. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

Taxi drivers are hoping to put the brakes on Uber in Argentina -- bringing major roads to a standstill in Buenos Aires. The protest lasted for hours -- with Taxi drivers irate over the ride hailing mobile phone app. Uber's launch in Buenos Aires in April was met with widespread protests by cab drivers along with threats from officials -- echoing resistance the company has faced in many of the more than 400 cities where it operates worldwide. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) TAXI DRIVER, MIGUEL ANGEL LOMBARDO, SAYING: "They are taking us to the edge of the abyss. We are returning to the 90s clearly and simply. We never thought we would return to that awful decade, for all the hope that people had voting for this government and now we are at a loss because of this virtual company." And from the way it looks now -- taxi drivers in Argentina -- filled with sound and fury -- have no plans to back away from the fight anytime soon.
