The mosque where Orlando gunman Omar Mateen worshipped got a visit on Friday from the FBI. "Sir, are you questioning anyone today?" Lawyer Omar Saleh of the Council of American-Islamic Relations confirmed the agents met with a member of the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce but declined to offer details. (SOUNDBITE) (English) OMAR SALEH, LAWYER WITH THE COUNCIL OF AMERICAN-ISLAMIC RELATIONS, SAYING: "(ASKED WHAT THE NATURE OF THE MEETING WAS - ANSWERS) That I am not going to discuss. They were asking questions relative to the incident that happened on Sunday." The center has come under spotlight since Mateen's attendance there has been revealed. A Facebook group called "Close the Mosque" has already gained 188 "likes". Mateen had expressed support for a conflicting list of Islamist militant groups during his three-hour rampage at the Pulse nightclub, where he killed 49 people. As the community grieves, the center's Imam Dr. Sayed Rahman tells worshippers to remain steadfast. (SOUNDBITE) (English) DR. SAYED RAHMAN, IMAM OF THE ISLAMIC CENTER OF FORT PIERCE, SAYING : "And right in the middle of the noisy environment of the devil, of extremist, terrorist, murderers, and blood-shedder and every Muslim, we should proclaim with honor, dignity and confidence that Islam is peace." A message he believes is needed now more than ever.
