ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Former Defence Secretary Liam Fox announced his bid to succeed Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday, along with Energy Minister, Andrea Leadsom. Cameron announced last Friday that he would step down as leader following the country's vote to leave the European Union. The "1922 Committee" of Conservative lawmakers, which sets the party's ground rules in parliament, said the group had recommended that the leadership contest should conclude no later than September 2. But Fox said he wouldn't be averse to delaying that date. "If Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 committee, were to ask me as one of the candidates 'should we change the timetable to give us more time to adjust?', I would agree to do that," he said. Leadsom was a prominent member of the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union. She said that gave her the right credentials to seek the top job.
