Twitter is betting on more TV-style video deals to attract users- and help cushion the blow of slowing ad revenue growth. The social network is talking to the NBA, Major League Soccer, and cable network Turner about buying digital streaming rights for live sports and events, according to Recode. Mike Bako, sports editor at The Daily National. (SOUNDBITE) MIKE BAKO, SPORTS EDITOR, THE DAILY NATIONAL, (ENGLISH) SAYING: " The first thing that it's gonna do is bring eyeballs on Twitter. But they already have eyeballs for sporting events. Here they premiere second screen experience for anyone that's watching a major sporting event, any sort of cultural event. The idea of them streaming these events, they're almost taking away the advantage that they have. Everyone watching game seven of the NBA finals, LeBron James makes a great place, Steph Curry hits a three-pointer, they're commenting on Twitter, but if they're watching on Twitter, how is Twitter expecting them to engage on Twitter?" Twitter already struck a deal with the NFL to stream some of its Thursday Night Football games this fall. It's also streaming live pre - and post game content from Wimbledon.
