Theresa May left her final cabinet meeting as Britain's interior minister Tuesday -- she is finding her footing a day before becoming the country's new prime minister, after David Cameron steps down. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, meeting with on Tuesday with Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny in Berlin, says they need clarity. (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL, SAYING: "The task of the new prime minister, who is going to resume office very soon, will be to get clarity on the question of what kind of relationship Britain wants to build with the European Union and in line with the decision by the British people to submit an application for article 50 of the EU treaty to the European Council, in order to start exit negotiations." She is also focusing on damage control (SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL, SAYING: "Every member state has the same goal, that our economy of course is not affected by the decision of the British people and therefore we are going to lead the negotiations together, in order to keep the effects minor for all of us." The Irish Prime Minister is also waiting for answers. (SOUNDBITE) (English) IRISH PRIME MINISTER, ENDA KENNY, SAYING: "You can't really come with a set of propositions or proposals from the European point of view until it's clear what the strategy from Britain will be, in other words, what does Britain want, having made the decision to exit from the European Union." It's a work in progress, although May has already sent a clear signal to the EU saying, "Brexit means Brexit," declaring Monday there could be no second referendum and no attempt to rejoin the EU by the back door.
