"No Trump, No KKK, no fascist USA" With the Republican National Convention finally here, protesters in Cleveland are making as much noise as possible. Presumptive nominee Donald Trump is fueling much of their anger, but so does the country's police force, which the protesters say unfairly targets minorities. (SOUNDBITE) (English) AMANO HENRY OF THE PEOPLE'S POWER ASSEMBLY SAYING: "This is about a system that shoots black and brown people, that murders Tamir Rice in his own neighborhood. That's what we're out here about. This entire system, that we all have the right to live, and breathe, and grow up. That's what we're fighting for." Thousands of protesters and GOP members have traveled to Cleveland for the convention. Day one will follow the theme of Make America Safe Again, focusing on national security matters. The day will also feature the nominee's wife, Melania Trump, as the headlining speaker. ...although the protesters say nothing said inside the Quicken Loans Arena will affect the noise outside. (SOUNDBITE) (English) WILLIAM DAVIS, A PROTESTER FROM DETROIT, SAYING: "This Republican ticket just became more anti-human rights. The Indiana governor, he (Trump) picked, has proposed, you know, horrible things that adversely affect, you know, gay people, woman and what have you. So, you know, I mean, this is like something from the 1930s." After multiple police shootings in recent weeks, including the fatal ambush of officers in Baton Rouge over the weekend, many are expecting the protests in Cleveland to turn violent... although organizers hope the heavy police presence will stop that from happening.
