Multiple casualties in Munich shooting rampage

Witnesses say at least three armed gunmen with long rifles went on a shooting rampage in the southern German city of Munich on Friday. Police are trying to contain what they described as an ''acute terror threat'' telling residents to stay home. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION). Gunmen went on a shooting rampage in a shopping mall in the southern German city of Munich on Friday, killing and wounding many people, police said. Munich police say a "terror attack is suspected." Bavarian broadcasters reported that police asking people to leave highways near Munich, and to refrain from posting pictures of police on scene of shooting attack. Authorities say they do not yet know the motive for the shooting, but that the shooting rampage caused a number of fatalities and injuries. At least one body could be seen outside the shopping center. It was the third major act of violence against civilian targets to take place in Western Europe in eight days. Previous attacks in France and Germany were claimed by the Islamic State militant group.
