Check out the Marque, an exclusive social network aimed at the world's most successful people. It's not the first site to help connect high flying-execs... Netropolitan known as "Facebook for the rich" launched two years ago but failed after a couple months. But the Marque focused on connecting individuals in London, NY and Asia is hoping it has a winning formula. SOUNDBITE (English) TARA JOSEPH, REUTERS, SAYING: "I'm in Hong Kong where the Marque recently launched, seeking Asia's A-listers. The networking site is trying to distinguish itself from LinkedIn, refining social networking away from the masses." Marque CEO Andrew Wessels says the key word for success is selectivity. SOUNDBITE (English) ANDREW WESSELS, CEO, MARQUE, SAYING: "The average 23-year-old is on seven social media sites at the moment. Of our first 100 members that we had on the Marque, two of them had Twitter accounts. The Marque is aimed at a very-a tiny user base, and-you know-if we get to 20 or 30 thousand members, we'd be happy with that." For a cool thousand plus dollars a year, the Marque hosts exclusive events, connects their clients and even offers an online butler. For the site's overworked, elite clientele who only want to connect with certain people, it may be just the thing. Or it may be too thin a profile even for selective A-listers surfing the Internet. In the tech world where success equals going viral, the jury is still out on whether such an exclusive sit can actually hit the mark.
