Dutch investigators are looking into the cause of a deadly crash involving a Tesla electric vehicle. They say the driver was killed after his car collided with a tree outside Amsterdam. Part of the car's battery had reportedly caught fire. It took firefighters hours to remove his body from the scene for fear of electrocution. The fire department says guidelines for dealing with electric vehicle crashes are well established in the Netherlands, but that THIS wreckage was so severe, firefighters weren't sure if the car's electrical charge had been neutralized. A spokeswoman for Tesla Motors says it isn't clear if the driver was using the "autopilot", Tesla's driving assistance technology. She says the company is working with investigators and that the autopilot feature would form part of that inquiry. The crash follows another fatal collision in the U.S. earlier this year involving a Tesla Model S. Raising further concerns about whether automated driving technology is as safe as many experts claim.
