Around 500 activists rally in support of Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte's anti-US rhetoric, a day after his 100th day in office. Nathan Frandino reports.

Hundreds of activists mark President Rodrigo Duterte's first 100 days in office with celebration. Together they hold anti-U.S. posters and wave their firsts in the air, echoing Duterte's criticisms of Manila's military and economic ties with the U.S. Renato Reyes says Duterte is standing up for the country. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTIVIST LEADER, RENATO REYES, SAYING: "We have a president who is thinking of national sovereignty and national interest and who is not bowing down to the United States that is the most important contribution that the president has made in his first 100 days." Duterte has repeatedly cursed the U.S. for criticism of his ongoing drug war. He has also threatened to broker new ties with U.S. rivals China and Russia. But Reyes urges Duterte not to be beholden to those countries either. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTIVIST LEADER, RENATO REYES, SAYING: "We cannot have a repeat of master-puppet relationship with any other country. We had that with the United States, we cannot have the same when dealing with other countries." And that's the kind of relationship Duterte has shown no interest in having.
