Multiple surface-to-air missiles were apparently fired at the USS Mason, according to U.S. officials. They said the ship used 'countermeasures' to defend itself and was not hit. Officials were still assessing the situation, but if the missile attack is confirmed, it would be the third time the Mason has been targeted from Yemen in the past week. U.S. officials said all three attacks came from areas controlled by the rebel Houthi government in Yemen. After the two earlier attacks, the U.S. launched cruise missiles against Houthi-controlled radar sites. The Houthi movement has denied responsibility for the earlier missile attacks, and warned it would defend itself. The U.S. has been aiding Saudi Arabia, which is working to overthrow the Houthi government and restore exiled President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to power. U.S. officials didn't immediately say whether they'll take any new action following this latest strike.
