Memorable AND meaningful... Kathryn and Brad Ziemer (Zee-Mur) support an organization that rescues dogs from high kill shelters. All of THESE cuties were rescues. Three wild elephants became rescues in China... after becoming trapped in a reservoir for more than two days! Despite a confrontation with the excavator, two adults and one baby elephant now roam free. Tokyo honored its feline friends this weekend during the annual Bakeneko festival, meaning "ghostly cats". It happened in a town known for its cats. Some will leave after the festival. Others will not. And what a sight to see in Denmark! Every autumn, thousands of migrating starlings gather in the marshes of the Wadden Sea National Park for rest and food. THIS is their landing technique -- the goal is to avoid counter attacks by birds of prey trying to enter the flock. The formations block the view of the sky and the phenomenon is therefore called "Black Sun."
