Civilians and police feared dead with more than 40 others injured after a car bomb exploded in the southeastern Turkish town of Diyarbakir. The blast tore the facades off buildings and rescuers combed through the debris for people trapped. It happened in an area near the police station where just hours earlier police detained members of the Peoples' Democratic Party, the second-biggest opposition party. Politicians homes were raided early Friday after they refused to give testimony for crimes linked to 'terrorist propaganda".... The region has been rocked by political turmoil and violence for more than a year after a ceasefire collapsed between the militant group the PKK, and the government. President Tayyip Erdogan accuses the Peoples' Democratic Party of having links to the PKK, which is deemed a terrorist organisation by the U.S. and the E.U. The Peoples' Democratic Party denies those links.
