NATURAL ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) More than 4,000 people gathered at Seoul Kimchi Festival on Friday (November 4) to make the traditional Korean spicy cabbage, kimchi, for the poor. About 50 tonnes of kimchi, made from spicy paste, garlic, ginger fish sauce and fermented cabbage, was prepared, organisers said. South Koreans consume about 1.48 million tonnes of kimchi a year, according to the World Institute of Kimchi. About 500 foreigners also participated in the annual festival in Seoul, organisers said. United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) added the making and sharing of kimchi to its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2013.
