An estimated three and a half-million people turned out to celebrate a holiday tradition in New York -- the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. It was the 90-th edition of the celebrated event, and featured one of it's newest balloons --- Charlie Brown from the cartoon strip, Peanuts. As well as one of its oldest balloons, Felix the cat. The parade stepped out on time despite calls from Islamic State to attack the parade. The threats drew a mixed reaction from spectators. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TIM GIBSON, VISITOR FROM MICHIGAN, SAYING: "With the climate being what it is right now, it is a little nerve-wracking." . (SOUNDBITE) (English) JUAN-PABLO CAMACHO, VISITOR FROM CHILE, SAYING: "We've been here for a week and we know all the people are very chill. I'm not worried." (SOUNDBITE) (English) LEIGH GREENE, VISITOR FROM NORTH CAROLINA, SAYING: "I'm not afraid. Whatever happens, happens." (SOUNDBITE) (english) RICH, FROM NEW JERSEY, SAYING: "This is a tradition. This is all about tradition and family and no one should be scared to come out and enjoy that." New York police worked hard to make everyone feel safe. They parked trucks full of sand at many intersections and scanned the crowd with radiation sensors and dogs. But the parade completed its two-and-a-half-mile mile route with no incidents. Leaving everyone with the joy of fulfilling a holiday tradition.
