Even by the standard of the recent ongoing protests, THIS one was massive. Organizers say 800,000 people e gathered in Seoul on Saturday to protest against President Park Geun-hye... ... they were expecting 1.5 million to show up before the evening was through. Demonstrators have been gathering for five weeks to demand she resign over allegations of political wrongdoing. They say her close confidante, Choi Soon-sil, has been meddling in state affairs and wielding improper influence, saying that's grounds for impeachment. Organizer Han Sun-bum: (SOUNDBITE) (Korean) SOUTH KOREAN PROTEST ORGANIZER, HAN SUN-BUM, SAYING: "Park Geun-hye, as a criminal, is neither qualified nor capable of being a president. She needs to step down immediately, since the impeachment process will extend over six months of her term, which will be troublesome for the people." These are the largest ongoing series of demonstrations in the country since the 1987 movement to democratize South Korea. Prosecutors want to question Park over her alleged role in the scandal. And with her disapproval rating at a staggering 93 percent, there's no sign demonstrators are going away.
