A moment of joy after bitter words for German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a regional conference of the Christian Democrats. A man steps up to the mic, calling on Merkel to resign. The room erupts in condemnation. And then a very different message for the Chancellor. A young boy from Afghanistan named Edris offers his thanks to Merkel. He has a wish to touch Merkel's hand one day. A wish that is granted as Merkel leaves the stage walking over to Edris and his father, as Edris wipes away tears. Last year, Merkel drew mockery online for stroking the back of a Palestinian girl facing possible deportation after she had reduced her to tears by explaining her policy on asylum. A total of 1.1 million migrants entered Germany in 2015, far more than any other European country.
