Getting married on Valentine's Day, New York style

Couples tie the knot and renew their vows on the most romantic day of the year at New York's Empire State Building. Roselle Chen reports.

Love was in the air atop the Empire State Building as a couple got married and another renewed their vows on Valentine's Day. They were chosen from a contest explaining why they wanted to be married at the 102-story landmark. Same-sex couple Krista Owens and Danielle Reno thought it made perfect sense to get married at the iconic skyscraper. SOUNDBITE: Krista Owens, married to Danielle Reno, saying (English): "I agreed with it because I'm an NYPD officer and I protect the city of New York." SOUNDBITE: Danielle Reno, married to Krista Owens, saying (English): "So we thought what better place to go, and luckily we got picked." Owens and Reno began as friends nearly a decade ago and years later fell in love at the entertainment and restaurant chain Dave and Buster's. When asked what the moment was like at Dave and Buster's when they realized they were meant to be? SOUNDBITE: Krista Owens, married to Danielle Reno, saying (English): "We just connected, it wasn't really a conversation." SOUNDBITE: Danielle Reno, married to Krista Owens, saying (English): "And tried to win a lot of tickets." For Laura and David DeMusz, their ceremony was a chance to renew vows they took 19 years ago. SOUNDBITE: David DeMusz, married to Laura DeMusz, saying (English): "On top of the Empire State Building was more of, because we won a contest. But it was also because, just the spectacular views, not living local, but just being part of overlooking the city and promises that you can build." The high school sweethearts fell in love when they were 15 years old. What's the secret to their long and happy marriage? SOUNDBITE: Laura DeMusz, married to David DeMusz, saying (English): "A lot of patience. Kind, and listening. And have confidence in your partner. People need to, when they make a commitment, they need to stay in that commitment." Lights atop the Empire State Building will glow red at night to mark the love-filled day.
