ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Some of the most recognizable woman in media were celebrated at the Power of Women: New York luncheon held by Variety magazine on Friday (April 21). The six honorees, Jessica Chastain, Chelsea Clinton, Gayle King, Blake Lively, Audra McDonald, Shari Redstone, were chosen for their philanthropic efforts. For Chastain, who is an Oscar nominated actress, planned parenthood has always been a part of her life. "I'm the first person in my family not have a baby, first person in my family not to have a baby when I was a teenager. First person to go to college and have a college education. And to be able to have the choice in family planning." Actress Blake Lively was shy about the recognition, but is proud to shine a light on the Child Rescue Coalition which helps stop the trade and the spreading of child pornography. On the red carpet several women's issues were highlighted, including sexual harassment in the work place by former Fox News anchor, Gretchen Carlson. In 2016 Carlson settled a sexual harassment lawsuit against her former employer for $20 million. Carlson said she is proud to be a catalyst for women to feel more comfortable to speak out. The event was hosted by Saturday Night Live cast member, Vanessa Bayer.
