Being so closely identified with Batman throughout his life, West earned a place in American pop culture history. And as West once said, he broke a few records doing so. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ADAM WEST SAYING: "One record that I have inside, probably noted, is the fact that I've played Batman more than any other actor alive, at least 170 times. I've been out there fighting crime wherever I find it. " His CAMPY live-action Batman show ran only three seasons from 1966 to 1968, but became a cult classic. West found it difficult to land other acting jobs after the series ended because he was forever linked to the Batman role…. But eventually became the voice of Mayor Adam West on "Family Guy" and played himself for years on "The Fairly Oddparents." Julie Newmar who played Catwoman alongside West, says he will be missed as the "bright and witty" man he was.
