Rapper DMX set to face the music in a Manhattan court on Friday (July 14). A day after being slapped with tax evasion charges. Federal prosecutors accusing him of hiding income to avoid paying $1.7 million. That announcement from officials, complete with a tongue-in-cheek tweet from a New York district attorney: "While earning millions from hits like 'X Gon' Give it to Ya,' DMX didn't give any of it to the IRS." The rap artist's lawyer told Reuters he plans to plead not guilty. Prosecutors say he went to great lengths to avoid paying tax. He didn't have a bank account and would deposit royalties into his managers' accounts, who would give him cash or pay his expenses. At one point they say he filed a false affidavit in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and listed his income as unknown for years while receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars.
