ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said in Buenos Aires on Tuesday (August 15) he was confident of reaching a "peaceable" solution for Venezuela with economic and diplomatic pressure on Nicolas Maduro's regime. Over 120 people have been killed since anti-government protests began in April, driven by outrage over shortages of food and medicine and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's creation of a legislative superbody that governments around the world say is dictatorial. "Venezuela is sliding into dictatorship and as President Donald Trump has said, and I quote, the United States will not stand by as Venezuela crumbles," said Pence during a news conference with the Argentine president. He applauded Argentine President Mauricio Macri's "bold reform agenda" and said the two had spoken of increasing two-way trade during their meeting.
