The best tango dancers in the world strut their stuff at the annual World Tango Festival and Championship in Buenos Aires. The competition is split into two categories: salon and stage. For this stage tango, 161 pairs glide and twirl to choreography. SOUNDBITE: Valentin Areas Delgado, tango dancer, saying (Spanish): "We want to be the world champions of tango, that's the main idea of this trip. The truth is, it's a dream to be here again. Last year we had the pleasure of being with these beautiful people from Buenos Aires and from around the world, so it's a great passion and it's a dream made real again." Wheelchair-bound dancer Gabriela Torres says stage tango means much more than just the movements. SOUNDBITE: Gabriela Torres, tango dancer, saying (Spanish): "Beyond that, we have a connection, we adapt the embrace, the look, the passion, everything that tango transmits to you through melancholy, all those things that you can have through what you inherit, of what you see and well, if we have all that, how do we adapt it to a dancer in a wheelchair." The winning stage tango dancers will be crowned at a competition next week. The Argentine capital is the global tango hotspot and the birthplace of the nostalgic and passionate dance, which originated in the city's working class ports at the turn of the 19th century. The World Tango Festival and Championship opened on August 10 and runs through August 23.
