Target is hiring more than 100,000 people to work at its stores, distribution and fulfillment centers this holiday season. That's about forty percent more than the company hired last year. Retail expert Trae Bodge says that's a bit surprising after Target's soft 2016 holiday season. (SOUNDBITE) TRAE BODGE, SMART SHOPPING EXPERT FOR GIFT CARD GRANNY (ENGLISH) SAYING: "Target has to fight it out with Amazon, and, of course, Walmart, I think, the three of them are really going to be going head to head this holiday season, and we're seeing that Target is hiring a number of people for their distribution centers for online sales. We're seeing a positive uptick in online sales activity, so I think, it is smart to plan ahead in this way." Target said last month it's including more of its locations to its ship-from-store program for this holiday season. It's also beefing up its next-day home delivery service. Retailers, such as Target, make nearly a third of their annual sales and nearly forty percent of their profits during the holiday season, which starts a day after Thanksgiving and continues into early January.
