UPDATE 1-Aceto gets USDA nod to sell canine vaccine, shares rise

Sept 28 (Reuters) - Aceto Corp ACET.O said it received the Agriculture Department's approval to import and sell canine vaccine in the United States, marking the first step towards its long-term plan to market a line of veterinary products.

The company, which distributes pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals, said it expects to start marketing the four-in-one vaccine to veterinary users in the first half of 2011.

Shares of the company, which has been in the process of getting the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) approval for over a year, have fallen about 7 percent since touching their 52-week high in May.

They were trading up 17 cents in premarket trading on Nasdaq, after closing at $6.71 on Monday. (Reporting by Suzannah Benjamin in Bangalore; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
