NY Fed to provide House AIG data 'as appropriate'

NEW YORK, Jan 12 (Reuters) - The New York Federal Reserve Bank on Tuesday expressed a willingness to cooperate with a congressional panel that has subpoenaed documents relating to the bailout of insurer American International Group in 2008.

“We will work with the committee to provide relevant information as appropriate,” New York Fed spokeswoman Deborah Kilroe said.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Edolphus Towns said earlier on Tuesday that he was issuing a subpoena to the New York Fed seeking documents that could shed light on the advice the regional Fed bank gave AIG about releasing information on payments it made to banks after its bailout.
