En banc 8th Circuit revives whistleblower’s lawsuit

A U.S. appeals court on Thursday revived a wrongful termination lawsuit filed against a Colorado company that provides emergency air transport to hospitals by a former employee who said he was fired for reporting safety violations.

Reversing a three-judge panel’s decision, the full 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously held that flight paramedic John Watson’s state-law claims against Air Methods Corp were not barred by the federal Aviation Deregulation Act.
